    5.0 INSTRUCTIONS FOR IGS PLANT START, OPERATION AND STOP
    5.1 Short form, step by step, plant start and stop instructions

    5.1.0 Before start
    1. The LED marked "Power on" shall be energized at all times. This because some alarm functions must be operative even if the plant is not running.
    2. Check that there is no alarm condition.
    3. Reset all alarms, if any, by "ALARM RESET".
    4. Check the oxygen analyser for correct calibration.

    5.1.1 Auto start - Flue Gas
    1. Carry out checks listed in section 5.1.0 before start.
    2. Select which sea water system to be in operation.
    3. Select boiler uptake with push button(s).
    4. Select blower with push button "SELECT BLOWER 1" or "SELECT BLOWER 2". Valve inlet selected blower must be open, and hatch for air inlet must be closed. Correct position on valves is confirmed by lamp "FLUE GAS READY".
    5. Clean uptake valve for soot with push button "PUSH TO CLEAN".
    6. Press "FLUE GAS START" push button. By maloperation or alarm the lamp will remain unenergized. The start sequence is indicated with lamps on the mimic diagram.
    7. The capacity can be controlled by operation of push buttons in front of main control panel and in front of sub panel CCR.
    8. Check the temperatures and pressures.
    9. Check and if necessary adjust the flow through the O2 analyzer’s bubbler unit.
    10. Check that O2-content in the gas is below 5 %.
    11. The plant is now ready for production of inert gas to consumer. If select consumer signal is activated in sub panel CCR, valve to deck will open.

    5.1 2 Auto start - Air Vent
    The plant is prepared for purging the tanks with fresh air during gas freeing of the cargo tanks.
    1. Select blower by operation of push button in front of main panel. Valve inlet selected blower must be open and hatch for air inlet must be in open position. Correct position on valves is confirmed by lamp "AIR VENT READY".
    2. Press "AIR VENT START" push button. By maloperation or alarm the lamp will remain unenergized.
    3. The selected blower will start automatically.
    4. Wait 50 seconds for blower to obtain normal running condition.
    5. The capacity can be controlled by operation of push buttons in front of main panel and in front of sub panel CCR.
    6. The plant is now ready for production of air to deck. If consumer signal in sub panel CCR is activated, valve to deck will open.

    5.1.3 Auto start - Inert Gas Generator
    1. Carry our checks listed in section 5.1.0 "Before start".
    2. Select which sea water system to be in operation.
    3. Press "START T.U.G. AUTO" push button. By maloperation or alarm the lamp will remain unenergized.
    4. The start sequence is indicated with lamps on the mimic diagram. Check that all air is evacuated from cooling jacket outlet and sight glass before "FLAME ON" is energized.
    5. Check and if necessary adjust combustion air capacity to obtain O2-content selected.
    6. Check the temperature and pressures at normal running condition.
    7. Check and if necessary adjust the flow through the 02-analysers bubbler unit.
    8. The plant is now ready for production of inert gas to consumer. If consumer signal in sub panel CCR is activated, the valve to deck will open.

    5.1.4 Topping Up - Inert Gas Generator
    1. Follow the procedures described in section 5.1.0 "Before start" and "Normal (auto) start" 1-3.
    2. Press "SELECT T.U.G. MODE" push button. The plant will start automatically by impulse from the main line inert gas low pressure signal.
    3. When the plant is ready for delivery of inert gas to consumer, the valve to deck will open automatically.

    5.1.5 Manual start - Inert Gas Generator
    1. Carry out checks listed in section 5.1.0 "Before start".
    2. Select which sea water system to be in operation.
    3. Select control from local T.U.G - panel by push button "LOCAL T.U.G START".
    4. Press "SELECT MANUAL START" push button in local panel. By maloperation or alarm the lamp will remain unenergized.
    5. Check that all air is evacuated from cooling jacket at pipe outlet in sight glass.
    6. Start sea water system and combustion air blower with push buttons "START/STOP".
    7. Check and if necessary adjust the flow through the O2-analysers' bubbler unit.
    8. After a prepurging time of 50 seconds start fuel oil pump with push button "START/STOP" and energize the ignition glow plug with push button "GLOWING ON".
    9. Wait approx. 40 seconds and admit fuel oil and air to the ignition burner with push button "IGNITION ON".
    10. Wait another 5 seconds and admit fuel oil main burner with push button "MAIN BURNER ON".
    11. When flame is established and indicated with lamp "FLAME ON", allow 5 seconds stabilizing time before stopping ignition burner by depressing buttons "IGNITION ON" and "GLOWING ON".
    12. Check and if necessary adjust combustion air capacity to obtain selected oxygen content in the inert gas.
